You don't have to be a plant expert to qualify.  There's a place for everyone!  Your unique talents and skills will be welcomed and appreciated! Clubs and organizations are welcome, as well!

Heritage Ambassadors

Celebrate our heritage by sharing with others about life in East Texas in the 1800s. Lead tours, assist in exhibit upkeep, and host open houses of the historic Wofford House, Discovery Barn, Jail, and heritage garden. Interested volunteers must be eager to converse with garden guests and interested in learning more about the history surrounding the heritage pieces housed at the Arboretum.

Require a $30 background check to complete the onboarding process.

Environmental Educator

Educate our community through nature! This position will aid the Arboretum educators in leading guided hikes, education classes during the week for school groups on environmental topics, and support summer camps. Interested volunteers should have a passion with sharing our natural world with others and be able to converse with a diverse group of people, ages, and environmental awareness. You don't have to be an expert in environmental topics, however, volunteers should have some experience in teaching or working with youth.

Require a $30 background check to complete onboarding process.

Garden Support

Help us to keep the gardens beautiful and healthy for all to enjoy! Do you love gardening but don't have a garden of your own? Feel free to borrow ours to get your planting and weeding fix! You do not need to be a garden expert to help in the garden. These hours will support Master Garden volunteer requirements.

NEW! TEENs in the Garden Program!

Teen Environmental Education Network (TEEN)s in the Garden is a student volunteer group that aims to empower young people to get involved with environmental programs to prepare them for college or the workforce after high school.
